The Biker
Timelapse Sculpting Session
This video is a 97 minute timelapse demonstrating the entire making of the Biker by Rick Baker. There is no audio. Rick begins with a simple humanoid torse basemesh from which he sculpts the biker. The final result consists of several subtools that originate from mesh extractions. The demo is made with Zbrush 3.0 beta, therefore the interface looks a little different from the final release.
While there is no audio, this timelapse demonstration represents an amazing opportunity to watch a master sculptor at work.

This very informative tutorial also give me an insight on how a master artist holds sway over this new digital medium.
Btw, I would love to see you do a painting tutorial on a character from head to toe, in zbrush 3.
Rick's approach to blocking, pushing and pulling major forms, use of subtools and finally tertiary detail was an amazing process to watch. He makes it look effortless.

This is really a great video. Even without audio, I learned a lot. I like how we get to see all of Rick's trials and errors as to get the look that he wants. I find a lot of lectures are a bit too polished and this was refreshing to see.

Posted March 30, 2008 - 03:03pmI highly recommend this video for people that are just getting over the zbrush learning “hump” as I personally found it an encouraging affirmation that I was on the right track in my own self training of zbrush.
To see a master of this fantastic program execute many of the same techniques that I have discovered in my own workflow and showing me great new tricks along the way as well.
As James stated above he makes it look effortless.
I very much enjoyed this video and look forward to “AFRICAN WOMAN”.
