Fully Lit, Sculpted, Rigged and Textured Troll Scene File (3DSMax)
3dMax scene with obj
The zip file contains a 3DSMax 9 project file including model, rigg, shading and textures as well as a simple lighting setup.
The sculpt consists of the Troll's body, teeth, eyes and clothing as well as his Flail. They are all setup to use Displacement and are ready to render.
The rigg is a Character studio biped and its skinned using a skin modifier. It animates from his bind pose into a render pose over 10 frames.
The head and body uses separate textures, the textures are included in .jpg format, they are:
Displace, Diffuse/Epidermal, Subdermal, Bump, Reflection Mask, Specular.
The Texture size range from 4k to 1k.
The troll uses a Skinplus+ mentalray shader also included in the zip file.
Put the SkinPlus+.mi file in your \3dsmax\shaders_autoload
\include\ folder.
The next time you load 3dsmax you will have the new shader node available in the material editor.
without it you will get an error when loading the file and the Troll will render black.
Also included is the model file as a .obj file.

I got the troll and tried loading it into max. I placed the skin plus where it should be, and that works.

Is there a place I can download it? Because it doesn't come with Max 2009.
Posted June 19, 2008 - 12:48amThere is another file missing named doge.
Hello folks, Jonas' scene file has been updated with another shader that is more compatible with the various 3DSMax versions. If you have any questions use our contact page in the links above to shoot us an email.
Posted June 20, 2008 - 11:07amGreat model, Jonas is a great artist, but people should know that the lighting in the scene has nothing to do with the preview...
Posted October 09, 2008 - 10:13amIt's misleading.
